Description:  Want to try an instrument that is fun and easy to play? Join Julie Stepanek as she shows the fundamentals of ukulele playing virtually. You'll learn how to tune, strum and read chords. After a short lesson, you'll be able to play a few Halloween-themed songs. No experience necessary. Circulating ukuleles are provided from a grant by the Southborough Education Foundation. Patrons must register for all 4 sessions in advance:https://bit.ly/sblibspookyukulele. Sessions take place every Wednesday at 4:00 PM. Program is limited to youth ages 8 to 18. If you can provide your own ukulele and would like to join in on the program, please email your request to rdonovan@cwmars.org. Description:  Join us for a fun opportunity over Zoom for kids ages 8 to 18 to talk about ways to make initial financial decisions, including: picking a checking or savings account, what direct deposit is, and whether or not a having a check book "matters." You will also connect with library books and other helpful resources, including a review of Consumer Reports online as well as talk with other middle grade and high school students as part of a community conversation about money!  Please note: Attending this program will count as credit as for library volunteer hours. Pre-registration is required: https://bit.ly/sblibmoneymatters. Registration closes 10/27/21. Participants will receive a Zoom link the day of the program. Space is limited to the first 20 participants. This program was made possible with a Libraries Transforming Communities grant distributed by the American Library Association.

Description:  Want to try an instrument that is fun and easy to play? Join Julie Stepanek as she shows the fundamentals of ukulele playing virtually. You'll learn how to tune, strum and read chords. After a short lesson, you'll be able to play a few Halloween-themed songs. No experience necessary. Circulating ukuleles are provided from a grant by the Southborough Education Foundation. Patrons must register for all 4 sessions in advance:https://bit.ly/sblibspookyukulele. Sessions take place every Wednesday at 4:00 PM. Program is limited to youth ages 8 to 18. Description:  Join us for a fun opportunity over Zoom for kids ages 8 to 18 to talk about ways to make initial financial decisions, including: picking a checking or savings account, what direct deposit is, and whether or not a having a check book "matters." You will also connect with library books and other helpful resources, including a review of Consumer Reports online as well as talk with other middle grade and high school students as part of a community conversation about money!  Please note: Attending this program will count as credit as for library volunteer hours.
