Children’s Room
The Children’s Room, located on the lower level of the library, houses a collection of children’s books, music, audio books, and children’s reference materials. There is an area for the library’s youngest patrons, which includes a large selection of picture books, board books, toys and puzzles. For the older children, a selection of fiction books, including popular series, non-fiction, graphic novels, and books on CD are available. New items are always being added to our collection — click here to see what’s new!
Programs are offered each week for children. Story times for preschoolers are offered three times a week, as well as a weekly story and music session for infants and toddlers. Book clubs are held once a month in the evening for second and third graders, fourth through sixth graders, and young adults. In addition, special events are held for holidays, occasional afterschool times and weekends, and throughout the summer for the Summer Reading Program.
The Children’s Librarians often host community groups, including Scouting troops, and kindergarten classes, and the children’s librarians visit the local schools several times a year. For any questions about children’s books or programming, please contact the Children’s Room at 508-485-5031.
